The Incoloy 840 alloy is an austenitic stainless steel containing titanium and aluminum that contains enough chromium to form and maintain chromium oxide on a sufficient scale to protect it under high temperature conditions and is more resistant to high temperature than traditional Incoloystainless steel [1] such as 304; The higher nickel content gives it better oxidation resistance than the standard 18-8 type rust, and its oxidation resistance is as good as that of higher grade alloys used at temperatures up to 1900 degrees Fahrenheit (1038 degrees Celsius).
